Lower Dens, who released the underrated LP Twin-Hand Movement last year, recently released the song “Batman” as a single from the album (you can hear it below). With the track the group, fronted by well known Austin based indie artist Jana Hunter, also released a cover of the Mayo Thompson song “Dear Betty Baby.” I will admit I don’t know who Mayo Thompson is, but this song is a slow burning, swelling fuzz pop jam that, at least in the hands of the Lower Dens, is really excellent.

Mayo Thompson is in The Red Krayola and released a great solo record in the late 60s called “Corky’s Debt To His Father” which is what the song is from
