La Big Vic: Everybody Needs Jah (FAO Dub)
La Big Vic did pretty well for themselves with their Underwater Peoples debut, Actually, but decided to muddy the waters a bit by re-releasing the album featuring dub versions of the songs. You can hear the track “Everybody Needs Jah” and can stream the new version of “Mr. Broken Bird Dub” below. Both add some deep grooves to the band’s hypnotic pop formula. Combining a band that got some good press (La Big Vic) with a genre bubbling to the surface (dub) via bands like Peaking Lights, and dropping the album on Underwater Peoples should get this record some attention, which is good, because it’s a cool/weird idea that deserves some new ears.
