Listen to the electric new mixtape from local R&B singer Dizzy Fae
Over 10 songs (plus one “chopped and screwed” remix), Dizzy Fae takes listeners on a hypnotic journey through the past, present and future of R&B on her free form mixtape. Some of the songs, like the funky “Booty 3000” and the club banger “Johnny Bravo,” rest on bouncy synths and fit very much into the current zeitgeist, while others like “Canyon” and the heady “Kosmic Luv” use a minimalist templates centering her powerful voice. All the of tracks have a crackling energy of an artist who clearly is confident in her exploration of various sounds and ideas. With production from Psymun, su na and sen09, the music is a rich tapestry of wide-eyed and atmospheric beats that add an opulent backing to Fae’s commanding vocals. Despite being her first release, this record has a confidence and power that showcases an artist on the rise. Don’t sleep on this one. Listen to the mixtape below.
