Listen to the outstanding Sudan Archives EP and see her Friday night at First Ave opening for Tune-Yards
Sudan Archives is the project of singer and violinist Brittney Denise Parks who creates simple, compelling pop music that stretches outside of the usual lines. On her self-titled EP, she blends fiddle loops, slick R&B, sugary pop music and left-of-center pop songwriting that emphasizes sharp, insightful lyrics to great effect. It is a debut that lands a punch, highlighting an artist who, only in her early 20s, is clearly going places.
If you missed the EP last year, listen to it in full below. Sudan Archives will be opening for Tune-Yards Friday (3/2) at First Avenue. Don’t be the doofus who shows up late and misses on seeing such an exciting artist.
