Nicki Minaj: Your Love
10/100
If you haven’t heard of Nicki Minaj yet you probably will soon – she appears to be the next heir apparent in an ever rotating cast of urban auto-tune practitioners. I am not really sure you can even call this stuff rap anymore – sure Minaj has a spoken word flow but it really just functions as a placeholder for the highly produced beats. In “Your Love” Minaj has hijacked Annie Lennox’s “No More I love You,” and if you thought that the original was annoying it doesn’t get any better here. It’s a sad day when the most interesting thing about your music is your back-story, but Minaj has crafted a bizarrely inconsistent persona that is probably a smart attempt to draw focus away from the weak tunes and on to her vivacious personality.
I am sure that she will be a superstar in no time.
