Music Copyright Laws Article
This post is based around a fairly interesting article from the New York Times Magazine about how the music industry goes after bars, strip clubs and restaurants to make them pay for playing music in their establishment. While the article is decent reading (it is a little long), what motivated me to post this is the god-awful artwork that accompanied the story in the magazine. Seriously, the New York Times couldn’t find someone to draw better than the “portraits” above? I find that hard to believe. Even if they were going for “caricatures,” some of the pictures don’t even look reasonably like the artists. Kayne West looks kind of Mexican, Shakira looks like a hooker barbie and it kind of looks like Chuck Berry has a cross on his forehead, Manson style. Good stuff.

Haha – I read this article a few days back but must have missed the artwork. It is indeed terrible.
The article also seemed fairly heavily slanted towards making BMI look good as well, though I don’t know about what they do enough to have formed a concrete opinion yet. I want to hate them for acting like greedy vultures but I guess they do make sure artist’s get their due for their music…
Kieth Urban looks like a junkie and Lady Gaga looks like an 80-year-old woman with cataracts.
