High Five with Sic Alps
1. If you were going on a cross country road trip and could bring a long any three people in the world, who would they be and why?
Matt Hartman: think i’d like to have been in the station wagon w/ the John Coltrane quartet circa ’65 for what should be obvious reasons.
2. What is one album that you feel has changed your life and how?
MH: many albums have changed my life. they continue to change my life. Each has it’s singular importance at any given time so there is no one, or number one. KISS “Love Gun” made me want to do this AT ALL. Beatles “White Album” gave me the willies while Manson bewitched me when i was 12. This record continues to fuck with me to this day. Mainliner “Mellow Out” & The Kinks “Village Green…” kept me strutting through Sydney for days on end.
3. Who are a band that you feel should get more recognition that they do, and why?
MH: I think the Kinks have never really been given their fair shake.
4. What is your favorite live music memory (performing or attending)?
MH: i’m gonna go with a fantasy that i got to see that famous 1970 Black Sabbath Paris bootleg show in person.
5. Finish this sentence: “Minneapolis is a great place to….”
MH: set the Mary Tyler Moore show.

1. If you were going on a cross country road trip and could bring a long any three people in the world, who would they be and why?
Noel Von Haromonson: Prolly Mike Donovan, Matt Hartman, and Eric Bauer. Then, if the time was right, before (or maayyyybe after) hacky-sack games, we could make a recording that might sound pretty cool. And then make fart jokes or something.
2. What is one album that you feel has changed your life and how?
NVH: Anything by the Black Eyed Peas…for the worse.
3. Who are a band that you feel should get more recognition that they do, and why?
NVH: The Black Eyed Peas…I hate to say it (and I’m, under most circumstances, a pretty light-hearted guy) but someone should consider tarring and feathering them.
4. What is your favorite live music memory (performing or attending)?
NVH: Hmmm….in Australia at a festival with Comets on Fire everyone started tossing their shoes at us after the Slits played. It was really confusing, a long story, yet a sign of admiration under the circumstances. As far as with Sic Alps…EVERY gig! They’re my best buds!
5. Finish this sentence: “Minneapolis is a great place to….”
NVH: See my buddy Clint (De Stijl Records) and maybe grab a cool veg breakie at that punky co-op place that is always delicious.
