Stream: The Songs of Leonard Cohen Covered
Leonard Cohen is that rare artist who writes songs that are amazingly timeless and will never be replicated…but can be covered. As seen in the multitude of serviceable to downright good covers of his classic song “Hallelujah,” his material is good enough that even lesser artists can make good of it. Mojo magazine decided that in honor of his new record, they would find some artists to take a stab at some of his other classic material, the results of which are streaming below. Some great names are on the list, including Bill Callahan and Cass McCombs, who all try to do just to the legend. I will let you decide how they fare.
