Arthur Russell Kickstarter
I don’t know what bums me out more, the fact that it takes a Kickstarter to fund a comp honoring the amazing Arthur Russell or the fact that, a few days from its closing time, it is still tens of thousands of dollars away from reaching its goals. If you aren’t familiar with Russell (shame!), there are better places to start than a record of other people playing his songs, but this project is impressive none the less. The diverse list of artists signed up for the project match the everything-plus-the-kitchen-sink approach that allowed Russell to flow so seamlessly from disco to folk and everything in between. In addition to being a compilation of an amazing artist, it supports the excellent Red Hot music series, so you really have no excuse. Follow this link to lay your money down.
