Friday Five (The BEST Minnesota videos of this week, ever, of all time)
We know you come to Reviler for the most hip, groundbreaking and up-to-date local music recommendations, so each Friday we will be bringing you the five very best music videos of this week, ever, of all time. Well, it may not always be five. And the videos may be old. And sometimes they may just be cool UnderCurrentMPLS videos from the vault. But other than that, get ready for the hippest, most cutting edge music coming out from the Minnesota scene each and every Friday. Or whichever day we get around to posting it.
M.anifest – Cupid’s Crooked Bow ft. Nomisupasta
One of the best MCs from our local scene from the last few years brings it on a hazy and sultry new track. From his new(ish) No Where Cool LP, which is very high on my “need to dedicate sufficient time to” list.
Battlerat “Sheds”
Stretched out and smashed up indie pop music from the Spoils EP that Battlerat dropped earlier this year. Shot live at the Old Blackberry Way studio and featuring the split screen technology that I somehow never get tired of seeing.
Communist Daughter “Roll a Stone”
A band who made some of the best weary and sad (yet beautiful) pop music in the scene over the last decade or so are back with a new album. This track is one of the lead singles, and shows that they are still doing well what they have done well in the past. Plus motorcycles, which have never lost their cool factor.
Black Market Brass Bands “Gloom”
A live video from the Turf Club release show for the funky (and outstanding!) afrofunk collective Black Market Brass Band who recently released their debut LP Cheat and Start a Fight on local crate diggers label Secret Stash Records. The record is really good, but live is always better.
Tufawon “Sagepatch Kid”
Tufawon is a talented young MC who you can check out with this warm and engaging song and video. Good vibes and smokey grooves. Off the The Homecoming EP that was released earlier this year.
