Listen to Songs from Hymie’s Basement (Yoni from Why? & Broder) 2002 LP and Catch a Rare Show TONIGHT at the Turf Club
Hymie’s Basement, the short-lived (but obviously ongoing) project of Yoni Wolf of Why? and Andrew Broder, have only released one album of their folktronica, ambient indie rap amalgamation. But they made the most of it, releasing the outstanding self-titled LP in 2003 on Lex Records, off which you can hear the spirited “21st Century Pop Song” and the somber “Lightening Bolts and Man Hands” above.
If you’re in the Twin Cities, you can also catch a rare show from the duo tonight at the Turf Club as part of night 3 of Broder’s January “Residency at the End of the World.” We loved week 2 of the series, and we are very excited for the stacked lineup for week 3. Joining Hymie’s Basement will be Yoni Wolf doing solo set, Lady Midnight, Dave King/Andrew Broder and DJ sets by Naeem and DJ Babyghost. Tickets/info HERE.
