Soubrette “Can I Wait”
Local opera singer by day Soubrette (aka Nelle June Anderson) slipped a few pop experiments and a lush piano ballad by us on Bandcamp in earlier 2020 but comes to us now with the full on experimental pop single “Can I Wait”. You can catch layers of Anderson’s operatic voice slipping in and out of the background over the muted guitar line and crisp drum loops that make up the song. The video adds some incredible visual animation work from local video artist Matt Semke (who’s done some great work for other locals like Breakaway). Keep an eye out for any future tracks because “Can I Wait” is a strong statement from an artist to watch.
