Brent Amaker and the Rodeo “Pocket Calculator” (Kraftwerk Cover)
While this particular song won’t end up in my top 10 tracks of the year, I have to give credit to a band that sounds like a new wave group fronted by Johnny Cash covering a classic song by German electronic legends Kraftwerk. In an age where I can’t even come close to keeping up with the number of songs/albums I get in my inbox, something like this at the very least will get my attention. Judging by their website and press material, I wouldn’t find much more from the band that would pique my interest, but I will give them credit for creating a fun cover that does what very few covers do, which is make the song their own.
