Thundercat "For Love I Come"
As we highlighted before, Flying Lotus protege Thundercat is stepping out from his supporting role with the avant electronic artist and releasing a solo album of his own. The latest song to come from his forthcoming LP The Golden Age of Apocalypse is the electro soul of “For Love I Come,” which is more clear eyed and direct than FlyLo, but still a cool take on kitsch-soul. A bass player by trade, the wobbly basslines and smooth electronics hold down the groove with Thundercat’s smooth singing, with a jazzy freakout taking up the last third of the track. Will it isn’t a direct correlation between the two artists and I wouldn’t say he is reaching the heights of Flying Lotus, fans of electronic based music (with a soulful kick) should defiently check out his solo debut LP, which drops next week on Brainfeeder Records (the label ran by Flying Lotus).
