Xander Harris: “The Driver”
Xander Harris and Dylan Ettinger are two solo electronic artists hailing from Austin and Brooklyn, respectively. They recently paired up to release a split 7″ on local label Moon Glyph (their 40th release!), which gives some insight into the distinct-yet-similar aesthetics of each musician. Harris’s half, “The Driver,” is being offered as a free download, and judging by how great it is, I am relatively sure you can safely invest in Ettinger’s portion. Harris describes his music as “EBM Industrial Grave Wave Horror,” and listening to “The Driver,” you get a feel for the horror aspect. While filled with pulsating synths, “The Driver” definitely has a darker edge than your average dance jam. Listening gives me a mental image of some kind of tournament where futuristic goths engage in dance-combat (to the death).
