Night Moves: “Country Queen”
Local boys done good Night Moves are ramping up to the launch of their debut album Colored Emotions which will be dropping on October 2 (Domino Records). The band recently release single “Country Queen,” off of said album, a sonic assault of organ, pummeling drums, and twangy guitars, not to mention singer John Pelant’s shouted vocals. Despite the title of the tune, it doesn’t really skew that heavily towards the Country genre, though the song’s rambling coda does strike a Country note. Rather it’s more of a rollicking rock tune – with all the knobs turned way up. Even when Pelant’s vocals contain notes of sadness they are still belted out with aplomb.
