Stream tracks from Toki Wright X Big Cats! ‘Pangaea’ LP
As we count down the days to the debut full length Pangaea from Toki Wright and Big Cats, out Sept 23, the duo have give us a lot of new material to whet our appetites. At the bottom of this page is a three song set featuring “Overhead,” “Windows,” and the previously blogged “For Amiri Baraka,” with newer song song “Apex” sitting comfortably above it. All feature the dark, cosmic grooves that Big Cats seems to have cooked up especially for the hyper intense, knotty-but-prophetic rhymes that Toki Wright has conjured up for this partnership. Each listen solidifies suspicions that Pangaea is going to be one of the best local releases this year. Until we can hear the whole LP, let’s continue to wrap our heads around these tracks and try to prepare ourselves for what the whole record may bring.
