Sample three groups performing at Friday’s The Greenroom Sessions Vol. 2 in St. Paul
Four issues deep and spread across 20 states, Greenroom Magazine has been on the pulse of what’s new, fresh, and exciting across the national musical landscape. Greenroom Presents, the wing of Greenroom that has been presenting some of the best events in the music scene this year, have been curating a series of shows that showcase the new talent on the rise in the local scene with the Greenroom Sessions. The first series at Icehouse saw folks like BK-One’s new project Bones & Beeker, R&B wunderkind Mina Moore, Beatmaker/Producer Kwey, and DJ Sarah White. This second series is no different, since on January 8th at the Amsterdam in Saint Paul, Dizzy Fae, Su Na, Falls &Drk, and Micropenis will be taking the stage. To get a feel of each artist, check the links below, and make sure you go to the Amsterdam on Friday, January 8th to check out some of these awesome artists in their own element.
Don’t let the title fool you into thinking that you’re gonna hear a rehash of “I Adore (Mi Amor),” Dizzy Fae provides a serious jam that’s equal parts FKA Twigs meeting Massive Attack, and creating a sultry, breezy, and carefree R&B song. She’s also gonna be opening for Kehlani and Poliça as well when they kick off their shows soon.
Having been featured every Saturday in December on Beats 1 Radio, this producer is about to release a new EP called Surface, expect an array of production that is hazy, fantastic and cavernous.
This duo provides joints that are cacophonous and chamber like, with twittering hi-hats that aren’t so much trap influenced as they are more dreamy soundscapes. Both of them are at work on their collaborative debut.
MICROPENIS (DJ SET)
DJ Micropenis will be providing the soundtrack for the evening, which is sure to feature some cool laid-back classic R&B jams, to the newly hybridized and dreamy soul.
