Drone Not Drone Release Outstanding New Ambient/Drone Tracks from IE and American Cream Band (Proceeds Benefit Cedar Cultural Center + Doctors Without Borders)
We all know and love Drone Not Drones for their yearly 28-hour concert where the drone music never stops and money is raised to counter our country’s endless wars. Now they are expanding their reach by releasing some outstanding drone recordings from local bands, starting today (on Bandcamp ‘no fee’ day) with the release of tracks from local stalwarts IE and American Cream Band.
IE’s output is a mesmerizing take on Terry Riley’s “Keyboard Study No. 2,” which local fans will remember they performed at the Cedar in 2018 with Lawrence English. It is 21 minutes of dizzying, hypnotic repetition that will leave your head spinning. Proceeds go to the Cedar Cultural Center.
American Cream Band go even more heady, with a 40-minute drone as part of their project of recording a drone for each day of the week. This track was recorded at a frequency that they tied to Friday, the day associated with Venus, and it is a calming, spaced-out track that should help calm your mind and spirit in these decidedly unsettled times. Proceeds from this track go to Doctors Without Borders.
