Best Music of 2022.5: Adam
The year is over half-over! Join Reviler contributors as they take stock of their favorite music produced thus far!
Albums
1. Pusha T – It’s Almost Dry
Will Push’s coke raps ever get old? At this point I highly doubt it.
2. Grace Ives – Janky Star
Grace brings just that little bit more production to make her pop gems big time but maintains that perfect charm.
3. Haru Nemuri – Shunka Ryougen
Highly ambitious hour long debut full length mashes together many genres in a way that shouldn’t work but is incredibly convincing and enjoyable
4. CMAT – If My Wife New I’d Be Dead
Delightfully sarcastic twang from CMAT’s debut was one of my favorite random discoveries
5. Billy Woods – Aethiopes
I’ve lost count of Billy’s great albums but the undisputed king of underground rap doesn’t seem to have a non-top 10 of the year album in him at this point
6. Alex Cameron – Oxy Music
Cameron’s sleazy pop finally clicked with me this time
7. Mizmor & Thou – Myopia
Two of the best names in American underground metal combine forces for an absolutely epic masterpiece collaborative album
8. Destroyer – Labyrinths
Destroyer keeps reaching into a great dark 70s inspired zone on the last few albums which really got my attention after many years
9. Angel Olsen – Big Time
Olsen’s shift to a twangy country album really hits
10. Let’s Eat Grandma – Two Ribbons
Let’s Eat Grandma polished their weirdo pop gems enough to make some real hits here but kept that oddball spirit
