Check out TAKAAT (of Mdou Moctar) this Tuesday in Minneapolis!
TAKAAT are a group comprising 3/4 of the legendary Mdou Moctar (namely the rhythm section of the band), and their modus operandi is to create an even more blown out, chaotic version of the their bands trademark sound.
Describing themselves, they highlight their “sonic chaos, improvisation, freedom of exploration,” while noting they built up chops during tour soundchecks. You can listen to the propulsive “Amidinin” below off their Is Noise, Vol. 1 EP they dropped in April.
Lucky for us, they’ll be in our fair city on Tuesday at the “New Northside Warehouse” venue that recently hosted the Skoal Kodiak reunion show. Instructions on finding the address are on the flyer above, but needless to say it will be worth the work to get your ass to this show. Opening will be Oyster World, Brendan Wells and more.
