Pat Keen Returns With The Wistful 22 minute instrumental track “Pnuema”
In his first recording following up my favorite local album of 2024 (the outstanding I Saw a Bug), Pat Keen has joined forces with another local artist, Mike Munson, for what he calls an “extended conversation” that resulted in the atmospheric 22 minute piece “Pnuema.”
The track mostly floats along in peaceful transcendence, at moments showing its teeth with piercing guitar work, but never losing the vibe of sitting outside on a crisp fall night. Like his last record, it is charming and conversational in a way that lifts it above other instrumental music, creating a colorful sound landscape that makes you wish it lasted longer than 22 minutes.
