Sorry Bring Their Noisy, Bent Pop Back Around on COSPLAY (Show Friday!)
Artist: Avice Caro, Sorry
UK band Sorry’s new record COSPLAY feels like the band is finally leaning all the way into the odd angles that have always made them interesting. They bounce between shadowy art-rock, brittle indie pop, and loose collage pieces like they don’t see much difference between any of it in the most charming of ways. There are flashes of Blonde Redhead’s dream-drift (the back half of the record especially), some ’90s alt weirdness, even a few GBV-style melodic darts (and a well-used GBV sample) that show up, hit their mark, and disappear just as fast. It’s confidently messy and probably the most fully formed version of Sorry so far.
“Today Might Be The Hit” is a tight, buzzing two-minute blast that crams its nervous energy and a whole lot of guitar clatter into a tight package without feeling tossed-off. The video echos that jittery vibe — a warped, shadowy, late-night-TV aesthetic that looks like it was taped over three times and left in the sun. It fits the song and the band. Sorry hasn’t been through the Entry since 2022’s tour for their second record so don’t miss this chance to catch them locally.
