Spend Some Cash This Bandcamp Friday (May 1) as Labels Host Fundraiser to Support Displaced Communities in Lebanon
The casuals get roped into Record Store Day, but the real heads know that Bandcamp Fridays are where you really drop the serious cash and get good stuff you and need, not a picture disk of some unmastered bullshit you don’t even care about. If you’re unfamiliar, Bandcamp waves all fees for artists on select first Friday’s so all your money is going to artists.
My shopping list is long, as it always its on these days, but I took particular notice of a fundraiser by a bunch of labels where they are sending money they make this whole weekend to displaced communities in Lebanon impacted by the Israeli/American war. I don’t know all the labels, but some of my favorite current labels are taking part (shout out Habibi Funk, Awesome Tapes from Africa, Constellation, Strut and Mississippi Records!) and it’s for an important cause.
Check them all out on bandcamp.com and know that money you spend on records that have fundraisers attached to them actually don’t count as money spent. (Right?)
