5/5: Pascuala Ilabaca and Fauna at the Cedar Cultural Center

Pascuala Ilabaca is a talented Chilean artist who performs traditional Latin music with elements of pop and jazz. She hasn’t released a new album in some time but perhaps this will be an opportunity to hear some of what she’s been working on. Tix/info here.

5/8 Jenny Don’t and the Sours with Cowboy Thoughts at the Cedar Cultural Center

Cowboy Thoughts are one of my favorite live local bands and any opportunity to see them shouldn’t be missed. Expect a lot of country and western covers played expertly and with talented vocalist Kara Wilder leading the way. Jenny Don’t sound great too! Tix/info here.

5/9: Spit Takes Album Release show at Cloudland with Scrunchies and Dollchaser

Spit Takes are a fantastic local melodic punk band that have a great sound and a ton of energy. Patriarchy, you have been warned. Details.

5/9: Mdou Moctar (solo) at the Fine Line

Mdou Moctar is a Nigerian guitar god who (with his band) have released several excellent Toureg-inspired/desert blues albums. This performance should be a bit different than what you might have seen at the final Rock The Garden, but should be no less great. Tix/info here.
