Brainiac

Brainiac is an indie rock band from Dayton, Ohio, formed in January 1992 by Tim Taylor, Juan Monasterio, Michelle Bodine, and Tyler Trent. John Schmersal replaced Bodine in 1994, and in 1996 the band made its Touch and Go full-length debut with Hissing Prigs in Static Couture. Taylor died in a car accident on May 23, 1997, only weeks after the Electro-Shock for President EP came out and the band returned from a European tour with Beck. Interest in the band grew again after the 2019 documentary Transmissions After Zero and Touch and Go's archival releases, and the surviving members now play shows with Schmersal and touring member Tim Krug sharing Taylor's lead vocals. Reviler caught the reunited band at Caterwaul in 2024, and their set made Adam's list of favorite photos of the year.
