Upright Forms

Upright Forms is a Minneapolis trio made up of guitarist and vocalist Nick Sakes, bassist Noah Paster, and drummer Shaun Westphal. Sakes played in Sicbay, Dazzling Killmen, Colossamite, and Xaddax, Paster in Blaha, Zoo Animal, Askeleton, and Aneuretical, and Westphal in Mise En Place. The band started in 2022 in Westphal's basement. Their debut album, Blurred Wires, came out on SKiN GRAFT Records on June 28, 2024, and they placed No. 7 in Racket's 2024 Picked to Click poll. Reviler premiered the band's first recorded song, "They Kept On Living," in October 2022, ahead of a SKiN GRAFT compilation. It hinted at Sakes' earlier bands, but a keyboard break pulled the mathy verse into a big rock chorus. When Reviler premiered "Regular Multiplier" in 2024, it heard Sicbay-era sensibilities, with Paster's bass and Westphal's tight drumming adding new dimensions.
