I couldn’t help but roll my eyes when I read a review stating that How to Dress Well sounded like “Bon Iver backed by Burial.” Although I am as guilty as anyone who writes music reviews of using this trick, you can’t help but be skeptical when such cut and dry descriptors are used. The funny thing is, after listening to Love Remains, the debut LP from lo-fi R&B artist How to Dress Well, it actually makes sense. A great example is the dark, chilly, ambient beats and glass like falsetto displayed on “Ready for the World,” which will definitely be getting some spins on cold winter nights in the coming months.
