Chris Forsyth “Solar Motel Part II” & “Solar Motel Part III” (SHOW TONIGHT!)

I was late to the game in appreciating the mind-melting guitar adventure that was Solar Motel, the 2013 Chris Forsyth LP that is still wrapping its way through my brain on infinite repeats. Forsyth has been slinging colorful, texture-laden, Fahey-via-Television-on-acid for a few years now, but Solar Motel, and his subsequent tour with the “Solar Motel Band,” seemed to have opened him up to a much wider audience (including me). This is music that is incredibly powerful on record, but I get the sense that it will be even richer and more commanding when absorbed in the live setting. See Forsyth and crew tonight at the 7th Street Entry with the always great American Cream and newcomer Steven Palmer for what should be a psyched-out guitar fest. Don’t miss this one.
