Stream Agnes Obel’s “Citizen of Glass” / Show Wed
Agnes Obel’s third album, Citizen of Glass, cam out at the perfect time last year, Fall. The record’s arcane, mystical, moods perfectly matched the world’s turn to the colder, darker season. It would make an excellent soundtrack to a Samhain festival, if that gives you any idea.
Obel is a Danish born, Germany-residing artist who mixes pop and classical influences. Using primarily string accompaniment and piano to back herself, Obel guides her ghostly, haunting alto through gorgeously “cinematic” soundscapes. You can listen to Citizen of Glass in its entirety below (and I highly recommend doing so). If you live in the Twin Cities you also have a chance to hear Obel live this week. She’ll be performing at the Cedar Cultural Center on Wed (3/29 tix here).
