Listen to the warm, enchanting new LP Orchard by Under Violet (Release Show at Turf Club Friday!)

Local singer/songwriter Sara Bischoff’s project Under Violet has returned with a new LP, Orchard, just in time for our fall cool down. Like her excellent previous two albums, Orchard is the audio equivalent of sitting on your favorite chair on a cool night, wrapped in a warm blanket with a fire place humming.

The 12-song LP blends whispy acoustic guitars, a dash of twang and hushed rhythms, all tied together with Bishchoff’s enchanting vocals. The mood is mostly mellow, with a few tracks like the shuffling bar-room jangle of “Migration” and the slight gallop of “Holograph” mild, but endearing, outliers.

But it’s a collection of dreamy, hazy tracks that end up being both the majority and the centerpiece of the record. From the keyboard driven “Freedom” to the seductive “Sunflower” to the woozy “Ancient Stars” and beyond, it’s a LP that is both deep and wide, an collection that floats gently through your speakers in a way that is soothing without being mundane. Like her previous work, it manages to feel both immediate and also worthy of deeper exploration.

You can listen to and purchase the record via their bandcamp page below. They will be celebrating the release of the record this Friday (10/24) at the Turf Club with Shady Cove (the latest project featuring Sarah Rose and Sarah Nienaber from a dozen other great bands) and Molly Dean.
