I was a big fan of last years Big K.R.I.T Wuz Here album from southern rapper Big K.R.I.T, so I was excited to hear about his new mixtape, Return of 4Eva, which he is dropping for free. Ever the Southern Gentleman, the mixtape is 25 songs long and finds K.R.I.T producing the same kind of great material from his last release. He does a really good job of crafting thick, heavy beats that serve as ripe canvasses for his rapping, which continues to be thought provoking and tight, free of the hollow hubris that inflects most rap these days. (Although don’t get me wrong , there is a ton of hubris, but it comes across as well worn and at least mostly deserved). Head over the K.R.I.T’s website and grab the mixtape.

Court clears way for Claritin emulation.(The Private Eye)(generic product loratadine)
Private Label Buyer August 1, 2003 The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled Aug. 1, 2003, against Schering-Plough’s patent challenge claiming that generic manufacturers of loratadine (active ingredient in Claritin) would be infringing upon its Clarinex[R] patents.
The decision was good news for Leiner Health Products, Carson, Calif., which says its private label version of loratadine 10-mg tablets will be available to consumers for an average price of 30 cents per pill compared to Claritin’s $1.00 price. web site loratadine side effects
“The court’s ruling puts the brakes on the pharmaceutical industry’s anti-competitive behavior blocking generic manufacturers from the market while protecting their estimated Claritin sales of $400 million per year,” said Gale Bensussen, president of Leiner.
Through an exclusive licensing agreement with Genpharm Inc., an affiliate of Merck KGaA, and Pharmaceutical Resources, Spring Valley, N.Y., Leiner will be shipping private label versions of loratadine 10-mg tablet to the food, drug, club and mass channels by the end of this month, Bensussen said. “We expect the retail price to be between 10 and 40 cents per pill. When you compare this to the $2.78 cost per pill of prescription Claritin, the savings are staggering,” he added. website loratadine side effects
Schering argued manufacturers of the generic loratadine would be infringing upon the Clarinex patent because when digested loratadine results in the production of desloratadine (the active ingredient in Clarinex) in the body. In ruling against Schering’s claim, the court found no patent infringement. Desloratadine, the active ingredient in Clarinex, was found neither to be new nor a unique ingredient warranting patent protection.
In addition to the court’s lawsuit ruling, another regulatory hurdle was cleared. The first generic manufacturer of 10-mg loratadine, Geneva/Novartis’ marketing exclusivity patent, expired July 22. Under the 1984 Waxman-Hatch Act, the Food and Drug Administration can’t approve any other abbreviated new drug applications until all contested patent lawsuits are resolved, or 30 months expires from the date of the lawsuit was filed, whichever occurs first. The first to file generic company’s 180-day exclusivity also must be expired.
