New Build “Do You Not Feel Loved?”
What happens when you bring together some folks from Hot Chip and some folks from LCD Soundsystem? That’s right: indie-electro-dance alchemy. New Build’s songs, for example “Do You Not Feel Loved,” are tailor-made for a seedy dance floor at 1 a.m.—that threshold of the night when things go from being sexy and fun to decadent. You can almost see the room spinning and the disco ball bouncing off the sweaty bodies in the sea of people, all on the verge of making stupid decisions to the steady four-on-the-floor drum beat. The harmonies are very Hot Chip, and the music is more dance-y than either band ever ventured. But, hey, that is what side projects are for. I have no idea if New Build are an actual band or just something to pass the time, but either way they are onto something with “Do You Not Feel Loved,” the lead single from their 12”. Hopefully we’ll be hearing more.
