Introducing: Woollen Kits
After hearing rumors of a good Australian garage-y band that was playing a cheap show last year, I decided to check them out. The band, Royal Headache, turned out to be one of my favorite finds of 2011, with their LP landing comfortably in my top 10 and their Triple Rock show being on of my favorites of the year. Moral of the story? Don’t sleep on Australia. Tonight you have a chance to find out if my advice is sound or bullshit, as Aussie band Wollen Kits are playing a (free) show at Memory Lanes. The sound cultivated from the examples on the groups bandcamp page find a esoteric garage pop wrapped in fuzz, which can be a wonderful thing if done right. From the minimal songs available, it seems like Wollen Kits are on the right track. If you are intrigued, head over to Memory Lanes at 10PM tonight and check them out.
