Magic Castles “Sky Sounds”
Magic Castles got a big boost earlier this year when the Anton Newcombe (Brian Jonestown Massacre) helmed label A Records collected work from their three studio albums and released the groups self titled “debut.” The group did some extensive touring, but took some time recently to post the song “Sky Sounds” on their soundcloud page. The track continues the burnt out haze of their previous work, melding warm acoustic guitars and gentle melodies with crackling ambient noise. It is a perfect soundtrack as fall sweeps over us and shows Magic Castles still have many tricks up their sleeves.
I can’t get enough of this band. Between them, Leisure Birds, and Flavor Crystals, Minneapolis–without a doubt–has the best psychedelic music scene in the US right now. Too bad I live in Chicago and have to travel 7 hours every time I want to see any of them live.
