Pulp “After You”
Pulp just aren’t making this easy. Despite not touring or planning on recording a new album, the Sheffield band recently released a knockout song to the yearning masses. Granted, “After You” was originally written a while back, but the group paired with LCD Soundsystem guru James Murphy to put some spit shine on the jittery, funky track before dropping it on the dancefloors of the world. Over a galloping bass line and crisp drums, Jarvis Cocker is at his sardonic best, spitting out lines like “I can’t explain why I need to be free, but if you need to be naked, that’s all right with me” with his casual but spirited style. Please Pulp, we beg you, go on tour and come to Minneapolis. We will pay whatever crazy price you charge, just make it happen. And if “After You” is any indication of what you still have in your arsenal, make a fucking album. We will even promise to not call it a “comeback” record.
