Tape Tuesday: 100% Silk ‘V/A Sunset Silk’ Compilation
For their latest compilation, “V/A Sunset Silk,” the good people at the 100% Silk record label dive deep into the sensual underbelly of the kind of chilled-out house music that is their calling card. The 11 song CS is a celebration of the label’s five year anniversary, and features remixes and unreleased tracks from their back catalog. It is filled with lonely drum machine kick drums dragging along ridiculously lush synths, all wrapped in a decidely “coming down” aesthetic. While it doesn’t pop out of the speakers like some of their best releases (Octo Otca, Pharaohs, La Vampires, etc), it is a confident, well-manicured set that melds together to form a sum larger than its parts. Not necessarily where I’d direct a newbie if they were interested in diving into the label, but a good collection none-the-less that highlights the specific-but-varied sound that the label has managed to curate. Listen to a track from the comp below, and find the link to buy the tape, and other goodies, straight from the source.
