Watch a live video from Tortoise’s New Album (Show Wednesday!)
Artist: Dosh
Over their 25 years as a band, Tortoise has forged a unique and recognizable sound that covers many elements of jazz, krautrock, electronic and more into their own sound over seven albums. The Catastrophist, their first release since 2009, doesn’t necessarily stray too far from their sound but adds some new elements after spending time between albums working on music commissioned by the city of Chicago to celebrate the city’s long heritage of jazz and improvised music. The band also performed in a few additional cities with local jazz musicians including Minneapolis back in 2012. “Shake Hands With Danger” was filmed before a hometown crowd at Thalia Hall in Chicago and showcasing one of the album’s standout tracks. Tortoise doesn’t tour through our area very often so don’t miss them.
Tortoise plays the Cedar Cultural Center tomorrow night (3/8) with Mind Over Mirrors and Dosh. More information here.
