To Celebrate 20th Anniversary, Low Release Visual Album of Their Classic LP Things We Lost In the Fire
One part of getting old is seeing albums you loved right around when they came out have X-year anniversary. The damndest thing is the “X” keeps getting bigger! Minnesota slowcore legends Low have a whole catalog of classics, but a personal favorite of mine has always been Things We Lost in the Fire. It is such a heavy, emotional album, capturing their quiet, simmering intensity in a way that has always hit me like a ton of bricks. For the 20th (ugh) anniversary of the album’s release, the trio have released a “visual” album that brings in visual artists to add even more heft to this record.
Some of the videos are literal (hey there dinosaurs walking around during “Dinosaur Act”), but much of it is like the band in blending the surreal with moody, expansive minimalism. It’s a beautiful addition to a record that already was a stone-cold classic. Check it out above.
