Stream Rollicking New American Cream LP Twin (Release Show THIS FRIDAY!)

American Cream Band, the rotating cast (although fairly steady over last few years) surrounding Nathan Nelson, are a band that over their multiple iterations have never stopped barreling forward, always evolving and growing into something new and interesting. They’ve explored countless genres, always searching for a mythical spirit and groove, often taking disparate sounds and finding the valuable metal hidden deep beneath the surface. They are one of those bands where you should never miss their live shows, but they also have found a way to capture their kinetic, rollicking energy on their now fairly extensive back catalog.
Their latest offering is the multi-faceted Twin, a 10-song burner that features a few songs that will be very familiar to those who have seen their live show in recent years like “Ethical Vampire” and “Don’t Burn the House Down.” The record blends a kaleidoscope mix of jittery post-punk euphoria, space-y krautrock grooves, meditative sonic adventures and absurdist political lyrics. At times it gets heady, at other times it is B-52 level dance floor burners, but the main focus is the competing vocals of Nelson and Liz Buhmann, what has become the new centerpiece of the band in front of the muscular, locked in band. It’s a record that showcases both the best of the bands historic sound and also another room inside of the ACB musical household they’ve build over their run. Listen to “Don’t Burn the House Down” below and stream/buy the record from their bandcamp page.
You can catch their LP release show this Friday, June 5th at the venerable Eagles Club #34 in Minneapolis with great local support from Bridal Style, Mullet and IE.
