Flashback Friday: The Voices of East Harlem singing “Right on Be Free” at Sing Sing Prison (Vinyl reissues out now)
I won’t ruin this with too many words, but click play above to watch The Voices of East Harlem singing the electric “Right on Be Free” at a concert with B.B. King and Joan Baez at the Sing Sing prison in 1973 (from this documentary). The nominal reason for this post is that two of the band’s releases are coming back on vinyl (h/t to the outstanding Vinyl Factory website for the news), but really I just saw this video for the first time and was totally blown away.
