Julia Jacklin: “Cry” / New Split Single
I was a late convert to Australian singer/songwriter Julia Jacklin, only hearing her excellent 2019 record Crushing this year. Jacklin has also been active this year, releasing a split single via Sub Pop consisting of “To Perth, Before the Border Closes,” and B-side “Cry.” Though both are very good it’s the latter that’s my clear favorite – a gorgeously melancholy tune about being depressed (which could describe a lot of Jacklin’s music).
