Introducing: Son Of Rams
Brooklyn’s Son Of Rams (aka Joe Pruitt) has self-released a number of self-recorded albums via his website. The most recent of which is Luther, a rambling folk/country journey that evokes both a Britpop sensibility and bluesy twang. I haven’t had the chance to sit down with Luther just yet, but I plan to, and I invite you to do the same by downloading the entire EP for free here. From what I’ve heard so far, I think Luther would sit well with fans of both the Beatles and Townes Van Zandt, especially when the latter’s playing stripped-down tunes. For a modern touchstone, Cass McCombs is kind of after a similar aesthetic—though Pruitt embraces country music far more directly than McCombs ever has.
