Old Smile: “Are You Still There?”
This past Spring we were first introduced to the unique psychedelic pop styling’s of Old Smile (Tom Herman) a talented home recording artist out of New Jersey (?). Now Tom’s back with his latest creation – a tape called Steep Blue Hill which will include 9 new songs. You can get a taste of it in single “Are You Still There?” below which is also available for free download. It’s a pretty little tune that pairs Herman’s reverbed vocals with laid-back guitar and keys, juxtaposed with eagerly upbeat drum rhythms. Not only does Herman’s music continue to impress, but he’s employed his artistic hand to the album art as well: each cassette in the limited run will feature different hand-drawn cover (you can see the different covers in the picture above). Nice!
