Momma’s 90s Influences Shine on “Motorbike” (Show Saturday!)
90s revivalism has been pretty big the past few years with plenty of bands touching on those grunge and alt rock sounds of the era. However as a former 90s teenager, not as many have stuck with me as hard as Momma’s Household Name album. Household Name celebrates everything great about the era with some modern flourishes, smart references and some perfect songwriting to go along. While the Pavement mentioning single “Speeding 72” got me hooked, the whole album is full of gems. The most recent single and video “Motorbike” plays off the time perfect quiet/loud verse/chorus dynamics full of big hooks and fuzzed out melodies. Household Name has been gathering lots of great reviews over the last few months so don’t be surprised if the band hits the big time and this is the last time you’ll see them at somewhere like the Turf Club.
Momma play the Turf Club on Saturday (9/17) with waveform*. More information here.
